Friends Partners with The Watershed Project to Monitor Water Quality in Grayson Creek
July 2017: Friends of Pleasant Hill Creeks is pleased to be a community partner with The Watershed Project and other local organizations that are monitoring water quality in Grayson Creek. Beginning in August 2017, an intern trained by The Watershed Project / SPAWNERS will be collecting and testing monthly water samples from Grayson Creek near Pleasant Hill Middle School. Parameters that will be measured include: water temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, and turbidity. In addition the water will be tested for specific nutrients and pollutants. This site is one of 25 sites throughout Contra Costa County that will be monitored over the course of a year. From this testing, we will learn a lot about the health of Grayson Creek and how we can work together to improve water quality in our creeks. The intern will analyze and summarize the results and submit a midterm and final report. Our role will be to provide volunteer support and to help share results and recommendations with the public through this website.
